Losing passion is the second biggest loss for an individual ranking behind the loss of character. Passion can never ever be trapped. It's not like you can keep pills of passion in a bottle and pop it whenever you feel diverted. You constantly need to remind yourself why you started and where you want to be. It's frustrating, isn't it? It probably seems like everyone around you is discovering their purpose, and setting off to make their dreams into reality. You are on the path of discovering your own self. Only when you get rid of ambitions, can your ego disappear. When you are fed up and bored of the outer world, then only you will want to look inside. And only then can you find out the answer to the question: Who am I?
The problem is that everyone around you, is doing something. Someone is getting married, someone is earning money, someone is travelling, someone is getting into relationships, someone is doing some business, or some charity work, etc.
Everyone is: something. Someone is an engineer, scientist, tech guy, doctor, whatever. Are you something? Lets say you are a doing a course you do not like. How did that make it better for you? You are still bored, uninterested and lost. So how can you say that people around you are in better situation? They are not. You are in a better situation because you are aware of the meaninglessness of life. You know that there is nothing outside. It bores you.
The thing is that we don’t want to know ourselves. Because we have been told that we should be something. Someone great. Someone important, someone powerful and talented. And we know that we aren’t. That is why we don’t want to be inactive. Try it. Keep your phone aside and sit inactively for a while and close your eyes and look at your thoughts and you will feel a discomfort, infact you will not even try this experiment. And you will quit. Why? Because you know that once you try it, your real face will be revealed. You will realize that you are not someone great that the world wants you to be. “A well known doctor” is something that was thrown on you. “A great scientist” was something thrown on you. Your name was thrown on you. But you are not that. You are something else, someone else. And this fact haunts you, because you aren’t powerful as the world thinks you are. And that’s why we don’t want to be inactive. We tend to want to do something. Inactivity makes us anxious.
And we start believing that having an ambition and keep pursuing it will make us someone great, and then only we can have peace. BUT we have no idea that the peace by, simply knowing who we are, is 10000000x more satisfying, pleasing and energizing. When you discover your real self, you are no longer limited by your fake identity, you are no longer bound by your so called fears. And you become unbeatable, unshakeable and Godlike.
There are many stupid manufactured illusions in this world and the next greatest illusion is that we can be passionate about something forever. You are bound to get bored and sick of any passion, if you follow it too much. The hardest truth of the world is that everyone who is born has to die without exception.
In order to pass decades of our life, we create some purpose in our life which can provide us as much happiness as possible. If we don’t create a purpose of life ourselves, the clever people in this world are going to give some purpose to us to make their life better. The clever people always define a purpose of ‘our’ life which suits their own interest most. It is more than normal that you are going through this, not having passion. It is great.
So look inside. Remove all the layers of what has been told to you. Meditate for a while, observe your senses, feel the surroundings, try it. Observe your thoughts, and see where they lead to, and you will find your lost enthusiasm and energy and infact, will have more direction and passion. (maybe after months of daily peaceful meditation). Do it, don’t hesitate, it doesn’t cost anything other than time which you aren’t using anyway. There is nothing to lose.
If losing passion is the second please what the first?
