Breathe and Read
Be grateful for the happy hours, and hopeful that the good times are on their way.
“It is another early morning, swollen eyes begging for more sleep. My phone buzzed and I lazily switched off the alarm. I dragged myself and sit up. As I started booting, a whole list of stuff that needed to be done ran down my mind. From praying Tahajjud to writing my daily 1000 words.”
Cleaning my room and taking care of my cat, the to-do list of the day raced through my mind. With determination, I step out, to go about the daily chores.
Your story may differ from mine with different tasks and challenges, but in the end, we are all living fast-paced lives with a seemingly never-ending list of things to do. It’s common to feel overwhelmed and like things are out of our control.
Perhaps you’re going through a significant life change, such as signing up for an important class, or preparing for a big event. Whatever the reason may be, the result is often the same — a rush of overwhelming feelings that can make your knees weak and your heart throb.
Recently, I have been going through a blend of these emotions myself, and I feel I am in a better state now than I was a couple of weeks ago. Along the course, I learnt from the lessons that life was trying to teach and gratefully I had some good books to guide me through. Here are two things I was able to get revelations from my my event.
Life is not an emergency
And yet most of us live as if it were. We keep racing through the day, a day whose finish line ends at the night’s sleep.
Most of the chores can wait without causing any significant consequences, yet we fret over them. We think that upon completing all the jobs in our to-do list, we can relax, talk to family and finally enjoy. But that’s just an delusion that we breed in, new duties will soon occupy the void in your bucket. Hence, instead of postponing the “important” stuff for some non-life threatening “urgent” stuff, reverse the approach. Talk to your loved ones, do what makes you happy, have some empty time in your day where you don’t do anything, allow yourself to be bored. We aren’t machines to keep running all day long, take break, pause and breathe. Breathe in and… let go. It won’t matter a year from now.
Become more aware
As you go through the tough times, pause, and take some time to see what these turmoils are trying to teach you. Acknowledge the unpleasant emotions, scary thoughts, low lying spirits and daunting dares. Accept reality as it is, don’t judge or complain. Just be aware. Now take a moment to remember all the good times life has shown you, the ocassions when you felt blessed, happy and blissful. Be grateful for the happy hours, and hopeful that the good times are on their way. That this pain is temporary, and will fade away as you march on the journey. It’s just a phase, seeking to strengthen you. As you embrace the reality, you will find yourself in a sense of calm. You would no longer feel daunted, instead determined to grow through the problems. Life will feel a little less overwhelming and more happening, as you turn your focus towards truth and positives.
Thank yourself for reading through, I hope you emerge out victorious in the battles you are going through
