I have always been a voracious reader, but I absolutely can't get enough of one type of book: biographies. There's just something about reading about the lives of real people that fascinates me. Whether it's the story of a world-famous celebrity or a lesser-known figure who made a significant impact on the world, I love learning about the triumphs, struggles, and unique experiences of others.
I still remember the moment I picked up my first biography like it was yesterday. I was browsing the shelves at the school library when a bright yellow cover caught my eye. The book was "Think Big" by Ben Carson, and I was immediately drawn in by the inspiring story of a young man who overcame incredible odds to become a world-renowned neurosurgeon.
When I got home, I buried myself under my oversized blanket given to me by grandma during one of her visits. As I read, I was captivated by Carson's journey and the lessons he learned along the way. His story of hard work, determination, and believing in oneself stayed with me long after I finished the book. From that moment on, I was hooked on biographies and began seeking out more and more inspiring stories to add to my reading list.
Over the years, I've read biographies of a wide range of people from all walks of life. From business leaders to political figures to historical figures, each book has offered me a new perspective on the world and helped me to see what's possible when we set our minds to it. Some of my favourites include "Steve Jobs" by Walter Isaacson, "Einstein: His Life and Universe" by Walter Isaacson, Becoming by Michelle Obama, The Accidental Public servant by Nasir El Rufai and "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" by Malcolm X and Alex Haley.
Reading biographies has truly been a transformative experience for me, and I am grateful for the lessons and inspiration I have found within their pages.
What draws me to biographies is how they allow me to see the world through someone else's eyes. Reading about someone else's life gives me a new perspective on my own experiences and helps me understand the world around me differently. It also allows me to feel a sense of connection to others, even if we come from completely different backgrounds.
But perhaps most importantly, biographies inspire me. Reading about the achievements and struggles of others helps me to see what's possible and encourages me to pursue my own goals and dreams. Whether it's a tale of overcoming adversity or achieving greatness, biographies are a constant source of motivation and inspiration for me.
So if you're a fellow biography lover like me, I encourage you to keep reading and never stop seeking out new and inspiring stories. In the coming days, I will share beautiful reviews of books I have read and how they helped me. Do you love biographies, share your experience below.
Have you read Hard Drive by James Wallace? It's biography of Bill Gates, I read it a long ago and I think it had story of Microsoft until late 90s.
Fascinating.
