If you're reading this, you've probably consumed countless videos and blogs in your quest to unravel the meaning of life. However, it's not as straightforward as it may seem. I had a profound realization after losing myself to deep pain and spending hours mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, and YouTube.
During this unproductive period, it struck me that the essence of life lies in creation. If you're not engaged in the act of creation, you'll never truly feel alive. This is why many individuals take immense pride in their work, dedicating hours each day to their passions, while those who don't create often experience a sense of aimlessness.
I delved deeper into why we derive a sense of fulfillment from creating rather than consuming, and here's what I discovered:
When we're in the process of creating, we lose track of time. Whether it's pursuing activities we love such as writing, editing, playing sports like cricket, or coding, we enter a state known as "flow."
This state of flow holds the key to happiness. The more time we spend in this state, the happier our brains tend to be. This is why you might encounter individuals who willingly invest more than 16 hours a day in their work—it's not a burden to them; it's genuinely enjoyable.
So, if you ever find yourself feeling lost, remember this: create.
Write, CODE, edit, record, design—whatever form it takes, happiness resides in the act of creation, not in endless consumption.
Thank you for this short and concise discovery.
