You Only Live Once
So, make the right choices, nurture them with care. And see how your life flourishes.
When you quit social media or excessive scrolling, it's surprising what you discover. At first, you might find yourself scrolling through your gallery, checking your Gmail, or using your phone in other ways. Suddenly, it feels like there are more hours in a day. Those hours you used to spend on your phone? They add up. I've experienced this myself, so I decided to share my thoughts with you.
Initially, you may feel inclined to do unnecessary things, thinking, "Oh, I'm done with my to-do list; let's use this free time to enjoy." It's natural to want to reward yourself for focusing on your tasks, especially when your phone used to be a constant companion. But is watching a series or movie the best way to reward yourself?
Watching movies isn't bad per se; for many, it's the norm. However, I am against it when it becomes excessive. People often don't watch in moderation. After finishing a movie, they feel a sense of achievement and think, "I must watch another one." This can lead to a never-ending loop, where a significant part of their day is dedicated to watching movies, often as a way to kill boredom.
What's worse is when people fall asleep while watching movies, then spend a day lamenting about their unproductive lives. Is this a good way to end your day? How can you expect to have a productive "next day" when you ended your yesterday pitifully?
What happened to reading books? The power of reading is underestimated in our generation. Why not be known as the person who reads books in their leisure time rather than watching series?
Some believe they learn new things about life from series (the biggest lie for not quitting). But what happened to reading biographies and autobiographies, where you learn how great people persevered through difficulties and emerged stronger? What about books on marriage, self-help, and other real-life experiences that offer practical lessons?
Becoming a reader isn't easy; it starts small. You begin with short readings until you enjoy them and crave more.
I'm not urging you to quit watching movies or social media this time. You know what is right for you. If you believe that watching series to fit in with your friends will make your life productive, then continue. However, I've never heard successful people say, "This movie changed my life." It's always "the book that changed my life" not "the movie"
In the end, the choices you make about how to spend your time shape your life n profound ways. choose actions that lead you closer to the life you envision for yourself. The power to change your story is in your hands.
It's funny how I just uninstalled my IG this morning in order to stop my excessive scrolling. And I don't even know what to do with my time now, that's how I ended up opening my mail and reading this newsletter.
‘The book changed my life’
That is deep, it has never been the movie did.
In other words, books are quite powerful.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
